These shoebox bookends are fun and easy to make. They will help you keep your books organized on your desk, shelf, or night table.
Remove the lid from the shoebox - you won't be needing it for this craft, but don't throw it away! It's bound to come in handy for another craft project.
Cut one of the long sides of the box away.
Face the cut side of the box towards you, then place your pencil at the center of the opposite long side.
Using a ruler, draw a line from the center of the opposite long side, towards the cut side. Then draw two more lines - one from the left top corner to the center mark and another from the right top corner to the center mark.
Create two bookends by cutting along the lines you have drawn.
If you have any loose edges, tape or glue them down. And now for the fun part... it's time to decorate them!
Let your imagination run wild as you decorate the bookends in any way you choose, using the markers, wrapping paper, glitter, remnants of wallpaper or paint.
If your children would like to share their fantastic creatures with the world, then we'd love to help them do so!
Just take a photo, then visit our main Crafts for Kids page and scroll down - you'll find a form to upload your photo and the name of their creation.
We look forward to receiving it!
