See-Through Christmas Card Decorations

Help the kids make their own see-through Christmas tree decorations using last years Christmas cards!

What you need to make your See-Through Christmas Tree Decorations

  • old Christmas cards
  • safety scissors
  • gel medium
  • paint brush or foam applicator
  • gold or silver braid

Gather together your old Christmas Cards and help the kids to pick out a few with clear images that they want to turn into Christmas tree decorations.

Using safety scissors cut out the shapes on the chosen cards and place them picture up on your prepared work surface.

Using the Gel Medium and a foam applicator (or paint brush) apply 12 coats.  be sure to give the pictures enough time to dry between coats.

When the final coat has dried soak the pictures in water until you are able to peel the card/paper off the back of your see-through pictures.

To finish your decorations, place a hole at the top of each see-through picture using a hole punch and thread some gold or silver braid through.  Tie the braid into a knot and your Christmas Tree Decoration is ready to hang on your tree!
