Rock Garden

A rock garden is a great way to brighten up any yard. Your kids can make some really neat designs or characters on these rocks.

My girls loved this activity and every time they visit Grandma's house they go out into the front garden to see if the rocks are still there.

Apparently quite a few kids at their school have painted rocks for their gardens and they all swap rocks whenever they go past a friends house.   By agreement no-one takes one without leaving a replacement and they all have fun checking out each others art work on the rocks.

What you need to make your Rock Garden

  • large flat rocks (river rocks are the best)
  • paint
  • clear spray shellac

Directions:

Gather your rocks and your art supplies together and prepare your work surface.

Paint your rocks to look like beetles, ladybugs, or in colorful designs of your own.

Let the rocks dry thoroughly.

Once the paint is dry, spray the rocks with the clear shellac so that they are waterproof.

Place throughout your garden.

You can also place these on your porch... or even make a path with them in your yard.
