I made my pom poms using the no loom method. I used just over 100 grams of yarn in the main colour and about 25 grams in the other colours. For my wreath I needed 16 dark green pom poms, 3 red pom poms, and 6 green pom poms. To be honest, mine would look better if all of the pom poms were the same size and I probably needed a few more.
It takes much longer to make the pom poms than it does to put the wreath together so the more kids you have working on it, the better!
What you need to make your Pom Pom Christmas Wreath
- approx. 150 gms green yarn (I used a couple of different greens)
- pom pom loom (optional)
- Polystyrene wreath
- Glue gun
- Safety scissors
If you haven't already, make your pom poms. I suggest that you make a few more than you think you will need - there is nothing worse than having to stop before your wreath is finished to go off and make more pom poms.
Using the glue gun (under adult supervision) begin to glue the pom poms to the wreath.
Work your way around the wreath until it is completely covered with pom poms.
Use small pom poms in the contrasting colour to fill any gaps between your pom poms. Trim all of the long tails and tidy up any long bits on your pom poms, and you are done.
Now you can decorate your table top Christmas tree in any way you like!
